Moving locally or across town?
We can do that

For the best accuracy determining the cost of your upcoming move, Champion will send one of our professional moving agents to your home or do a video estimate via smartphone to save time, fuel and money. All of our agents have extensive training to advise you on how to save money on your move. We can suggest ways to plan for and execute the most cost effective green strategies. Or we can give you a rate quote or ballpark cost and firm that up on the morning of the move. Whatever suits your needs and time availability.
Have extra or unneeded items you don’t plan to move. We can help you with where to donate, who to call, and we’ll even haul it off and donate it for you if you like.
After surveying everything for overall size and weight, our estimator will be able to provide you with an accurate estimate that fits your budget. Basically, the more prepared you are prior to move day, the faster we can get you moved, the less it will cost. We’ll estimate a little high if possible so you don’t get a nasty surprise. If you seem organized and proactive, you’ll probably get a lower quote. Make sense? We can write out the conditions you agreed to that your estimate is based on, make an exact list of what you asked us to move, even help you document your possessions for insurance purposes.
Planning is our thing and a good plan creates the conditions for a good move.
On move day, if you didn’t get everything done that you planned, no problem, it happens. We’re all busy people. We’ll figure out how to get it done. Or better yet, just let us know on our two day or day before call to you so we can better plan your crews arrival and man power requirements. We will communicate with you all through the process.
• Weekend or weekday?
• What part of the month?
• Best time of year?
• How soon?
• How much notice?
One problem in the moving business is that everyone wants to move at the same time. You may already know this. If you want to rent a truck for a Friday or Saturday, you’ll need to call and reserve weeks ahead of time or you may not get a truck. Naturally, that causes scheduling challenges.
End of the month. During the summer. While the kids are out of school. We use demand based pricing so that you can save, if you can move on off peak days. If we get more moves done early in the week then work doesn’t pile up on the weekend or the end of the month. This keeps our movers busy and getting more hours all year long so they stay with us. Keeping turnover low is key to providing better quality service to you.
Taking this into consideration, your move consultant will be able to discuss a time frame that will fit your schedule but will also help keep your costs to a minimum.
• Where are you moving?
• Major city or rural?
• Local or long distance?
How far you are moving also affects how much time the move will take, what type of equipment will need to be used, how much fuel, and the hours needed. Local moves will not require some of these additional considerations because often you will have the same team taking care of the load and unload on the same day.
• How many boxes?
• How much furniture?
• Any fragile items?
• How big is the move?
Your inventory, size of your furniture, and total weight all affect how quickly the move can be done. Certain items will need to be dismantled to best protect them during transit and to fit through doorways. We need enough space in the truck so things don’t have to be packed too tightly because which wastes time. The quantity will determine the size of the truck and the team we use to get your move done on your schedule.
We want all moves done as planned, no surprises on move day. Please show your estimator everything you need moved, even those boxes up in the attic and the patio and backyard stuff. If you plan on taking the rocks in the back yard, we can do that, just let us know. It’s no problem when we have honest and straight forward communication with our clients.
A lot of “moving nightmares” start with a client that was too busy to get the packing done or didn’t get rid of the things they planned to get rid of, then they are too stubborn to admit they need more help. We hate that situation. It’s no fun for us either. We will bring the extra help and materials to take care of your things and get the job done quickly if you let us know what is happening. Of course it will cost a little bit more, but hey we can still make it happen and that’s the main thing. Don’t stress out. And don’t stress us out.
Our crew needs to get up tomorrow and move someone else. If they work twelve hours or more on your job due to poor planning they won’t feel good in the morning and tomorrow’s customer will not get the good service they deserve. We plan all of our jobs for an 8 hour day. 8 hours on the job is almost 10 hours by the time you prep the truck and drive to and from. Moving is hard work and people get tired if it goes too long. That’s when attitudes go down hill, people get hurt and that’s often when furniture gets damaged. Tired people make bad decisions, including customers. Don’t wear yourself out and get enough rest before your move. That should be like the number one rule. We try to practice what we preach too.
Our estimators will consult with you to determine the best plan of action for your specific situation. We won’t let people talk us into a ridiculous plan either. For example if you have a huge home and want to move everything 75 miles through LA traffic and deliver it all the same day, well that just won’t work no matter how many men and trucks you use. This is our business and our reputation and we want to do things right. Whether you require packing, unpacking, protection, or additional services, our estimators have the know how to put together a comprehensive move plan to suit your needs. But remember, a lot of the local move process depends on you and your attitude. Don’t over do it. Ask for help. Keep your stress low and let the professionals do what they are trained for. We like moving, that’s why we do it.
